Fall In McAlester

September 22 - December 20

Fall is an ideal time of year to be in McAlester, there are so many things to do! If you are staying home, you might plant some bulbs to enjoy next spring. Or, you could donate some unwanted items to our Pride In McAlester Flea Market while on your way to drop off cardboard, paper, and plastics at the Recycling Center.

May through October visit our Farmers' Market for fresh produce, enjoy a picnic in one of our many parks, explore our trails, and spend the evening enjoying the music and activities in one of our two MainStreet areas McAlester Downtown and Historic Old Town.  If it's a rainy day, visit one of our museums and learn all about McAlester's History then enjoy a movie or have fun playing indoor miniature golf or go bowling!

Be sure to view our calendar for further details.

September 4th - 8th

The Pittsburg County Free Fair features an art show, a carnival with popular amusement rides, a wide array of food vendors and concessions; the annual horse show, and a variety of livestock exhibits that include chickens, pigeons, rabbits, goats, cows, sheep and swine. Come and enjoy!

October

The entire month is dedicated to cleaning and beautifying our hometown. October is a great month to teach your children to volunteer and give back to their community. So start now by getting ready for McAlester’s FIRST Citywide Garage Sale! Even if you have never had a garage sale before - join the fun and turn your unneeded household items into cash!

Pride In McAlester is hosting activities the next THREE SATURDAYS to encourage you to clean up your neighborhood. Meet with your neighbors and plan to spend a Saturday helping one another clean up your yards, clear out your garages, and then load it up and take the unwanted items to the Flea Market; drop off the paper, cardboard and plastics at the Recycling Center; and, then the BULK TRASH, METAL, TIRES, AND ELECTRONICS at the Old National Guard Armory!
